Parks and Recreation meeting minutes June 20th meeting Attendance: Board Chair: Mike Riegel Board Members: Marc Mignogna, Scott Rieland, Drew Heck, Heather Hobbs Michael, Councilman Munder Board Members Absent: George Guevara, Ryan McCulley Town Staff: Gina Campanile, Director of communication and events, Ashley Collier, Parks, special events coordinator, Nancy Hernandez, Parks attendant Messenger Staff: The meeting started at 7:00 with the pledge of allegiance. The May minutes will be approved at the July meeting Chairman's Comments: Chairman Riegel gave his time to councilman Munder for his report. Council Report: Councilman Munder gave a update on the May election and the commission liaisons. The beautification commission will be working on benches by the pickleball court, Also one member will be adding flowers by the welcome sign on route 27. Guests and Presentations Brownie Troop 4012- Lauren Munder, Alexa, Lilly, Karin Request for trash cans and pet waste along RTT Asking for support Attended Chili cookoff noticed more trash on the trail, both sides Commission will forward request to Brian Four County Softball Kerry Duvall Softball Commissioner Requesting a designated field in town for softball at Watkins Concerned about lack of fields, also concerned about using baseball field for softball Volunteers would be willing to maintain Read letters from 2 parents who could not attend they are upset there is no field in town, they also stated registration expected to double next year and are requesting funds from the town Tim Washabaugh: Softball coach Expect to have 8 teams next year Stated they are playing in Libertytown and Winfield Board member Heather asked about sharing MAYAA (non-Town) fields and touring fields in town Board member Drew noted that this was the first time that the Board had heard of a request regarding FCLL Softball field needs. Town Staff report Gina Campanile gave her report on the following Pickleball 101 great success citizens request street hockey court to be resurfaced Village gate playground• Complaint about erosion, ordering new plastic borders. Wayne Norwood Plaque- Sign will be relocated RTT project- Memorandums issued out for bidding est fall Caboose pavilion: Completed ADA playground: Submitted listing full amount grant due in August Windy Ridge- received quotes for arranging lowest quote of $284,000, 2nd phase due in September Beautification sign• Portion of planting budget for new S main sign New speakers in place Pet waste station- Going in the parks Camp night- August 10 th Mike requesting sign up sheet for volunteers Old Business EW playground- Did not receive grant, suggesting a intro for $39,000 to allocate new playground Drew made motion to introduce Scott 2nd all in favor New Business Councilman Poirier’s request for cornhole board Board discussed, but did not recommend moving forward with this request Jf approved staff can review for FY 2020 Scott suggested to repair (not replace) fence by Request on behalf of Councilman Poirier Traffic at St Andrew's Heather suggested having MAP look into it. Mike brought up registration for use of pavilions Ashley went over all the upcoming events Heather brought up drainage issues with Twin Arch bball court will be discussed next month Adjourment 8:46 Drew made motion Scott 2nd all in favor Respectully, Marc Mignogna
