Minutes of the Monthly Meeting
May 19, 2021 (Via Zoom)

Pete Bowlus was not in attendance.
1. Commission Chair Tom Neff called the meeting to order and Mike Dixon led the Pledge of Allegiance
2. March 2021 minutes were approved with motion by Kathy Balderson; 2nd by Ken Humble; Motion carried
3. Citizen's Comments
a. No comments were received
4. J and J Comments/Concerns
a. J and J was not in attendance
5. Ads for the Messenger
a. Mary VanMetre advised Bulk pickup and yard waste dates were advertised in the paper
b. It was decided to place an ad in the June 2nd edition to advertise the Shred/Battery Recycling event
6. Shred/Battery Event June 12, 2021 9 am to 12 pm
a. Event will be at Watkins Park and those helping are: Stephen Domotor, Mary VanMetre, Mike Dixon and
either Carl Dixon or Dave, Kathy Balderson, Peggy Fleming
b. Tom Neff will pick up the yard signs from Town Hall. Tom and Mike Dixon will place the signs June 6 or
7, and collect the signs after the event.
c. Councilman Domotor will secure the Town electronic signs to advertise the event.
7. Drug Take Back Day - April 24, 2021
a. Drug Take Back Day was a success with 12 yard waste bags of drugs collected.
b. Yard signs are being stored by Peggy Fleming to be used for the October Drug Take Back Day.
8. Spring Bulk Pickup
a. 36 tons of bulk items was collected at a cost of $2,743.60
b. Residents of Merridale and Cloverdale placed a large pile of items at the intersection including mattresses
which were not part of the bulk collection. Metal items were not separated for recycling.
c. Town Hall received four complaints of items being picked up that were not part of the bulk trash.
d. J and J employees worked from 6 am to 5 pm and still had to pick up items on Monday due to the volume.
e. Discussion regarding bulk pickup was tabled until the July meeting in hopes that J and J will be in
attendance.
9. Grass Clippings
a. Town Hall received reports of grass being blown into the street in the Nottingham and Twin Ridge
communities. Code Enforcement Officer did issue some warnings.
b. It was decided to print the town ordinance in the Messenger as a reminder to all residents.
10. Council Liaison Report
a. Stephen Domotor reported he is excited to be elected to the Town Council and to be assigned the
Recycling and Sanitation Commission.
b. Councilman Domotor noted the Recycling and Sanitation Commission was rated the highest of all the
commissions on the last Town Survey.
c. He reported the newly assigned commission liaisons are:
Planning and Zoning and the EDC Karl Munder
Parks and Recs Pamela Reed
Water and Sewer & Sustainability Jason Poirier
Streets and Roads & Beautification Lynne Galletti
Recycling and Sanitation Stephen Domotor
11. Meeting adjourned with motion by Kathy Balderson and seconded by Peggy Fleming.
12. Next Regular Meeting – July 21, 2021 @ 7 p.m.
