SPECIAL TOWN COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday February 13, 2024 4:45 p.m. Municipal Complex, Council Chambers 100 Ann Edwards Lane, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 MINUTES 1. Call to Order Mayor Haynie called the meeting to order at 4:45 p.m. Carl Ritchie, Gary Santos, John Iacofano, Jake Rambo, Laura Hyatt, Howard Chapman and Daniel Brownstein were all present. Guang Ming Whitley was absent. 2. Public Comment There were no public comments. 3. Executive Session Mr. Rambo moved to go into executive session for the reasons stated on the agenda, items 3 a through e, seconded by Mr. Chapman. All present voted in favor. The meeting was adjourned into executive session at 4:47 p.m. a. Discussion of and possible action on contractual items related to Town owned property on Faison Road b. Legal advice related to Shem Creek Development Group, LLC v. the Town of Mount Pleasant, Case no. 2020-001387 c. Consideration of applications to serve on the Board of Zoning Appeals d. Consideration of applications to serve on the Planning Commission e. Consideration of applications to serve on the Commercial Design Review Board 4. Post Executive Session Council may take action on any item, including any subsection of any section, listed on an executive session agenda or discussed in an executive session during a properly noticed meeting. Mayor Haynie reconvened the meeting at 5:50 p.m. stating no votes or action had been taken. Mr. Chapman moved to request staff to come up with a concept to determine the best plan to move forward on the Faison Road property as discussed in executive session, seconded by Ms. Hyatt. All present voted in favor. Mr. Brownstein moved to reappoint Aaron Butner and Elliott Barrow to the Board of Zoning Appeals, seconded by Mr. Rambo. All present voted in favor. Ms. Hyatt moved to appoint Mike Tinkey to the Planning Commission, seconded by Mr. Ritchie. All present voted in favor. Mr. Iacofano moved to reappoint Richard Perez to the Commercial Design Review Board, seconded by Mr. Rambo. All present voted in favor. 5. Presentation of Public Services Department accreditation by the American Public Works Association Mr. Weis presented the accreditation award from the American Public Works Association and thanked Mayor and Council for their support. 6. Recognition of Oceanside Girls Tennis Champions Ms. Hyatt presented the Oceanside Girls Tennis Champions to Mayor and Council. Page 2 of 5 7. Recognition of Oceanside Football Champions Ms. Hyatt presented the Oceanside Football Champions to Mayor and Council. 8. Recognition of Special Olympics Power Lifters Mr. Ritchie presented the Special Olympics Power Lifters to Mayor and Council. Page 3 of 5 Page 4 of 5 9.
