TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA DESIGN REVIEW BOARD AUGUST 26, 2020 MINUTES Attachment 1—Staff Report Present: Tara Spencer, Ian Duncan, Steve Magoon, Christopher McCarthy, William O'Neal, Cameron Swails, Richard Lambert. Staff: Brittany Johnson, Peter Stone , Lynnette Lynes Mr. Lambert called the meeting to order at 5:15 pm. 1. Approval of Agenda Mr. Magoon moved for approval of the agenda. Mr. Duncan seconded the motion. All in favor. 2. Approval of Minutes Mr. Duncan moved for approval of the minutes. Mr. Magoon seconded the motion. All in favor. 3. General public comment 4. General correspondence There being no additional correspondence or public comment, Mr. Lambert continued with the agenda. 5. Consent Motion Mr. Duncan moved for consent approval for the following items: ➢ Embassy Suites Revision, 100 Ferry Wharf, 517-00-00-248, Final Approval of Site, Landscape, and Architecture Ms. Spencer seconded the motion. All in favor with Mr. O’Neal abstaining. 6. Business A. Long Grove Office, 1475 Long Grove Dr.,561-00-00-140, Preliminary Approval of Site, Landscape, and Architecture Ms. Johnson and Mr. Stone reviewed staff comments. Mr. Wentz Chesson and Mr. Jason Milner reviewed the request with the Board. There being no comments, Mr. Lambert closed public comment. Ms. Spencer moved for preliminary approval. Mr. Duncan seconded the motion. All in favor. C. 910 Johnnie Dodds, 910 Johnnie Dodds, 535- 00-00-142, Preliminary Approval of Site, Landscape, and Architecture This item was withdrawn by staff. D. Bowman Place Final Phase Building C,D,& E, Old Georgetown Road, 559-13-00-032, Preliminary Approval of Site, Landscape, and Architecture Mr. Stone and Ms. Johnson reviewed staff comments with the board. Mr. Kyle Hoyt and Mr. Losse Knight reviewed the request with the Board. There being no further comments, Mr. Lambert closed public comment. Mr. Duncan moved for approval. Ms. Spencer seconded the motion. Motion failed on a 1 to 4 vote with Mr. Magoon in favor; Mr. McCarthy, Mr. Duncan, Mr. Lambert, and Mr. O’Neal opposed and Mr. Swails and Ms. Spencer abstaining. Mr. Magoon left at this time (6:38 pm). Mr. Duncan moved for approval including all staff comments. Ms. Spencer seconded the motion. All in favor with Mr. Swails abstaining.  Design Review Board August 26, 2020 Page 3 of 3 The board convened for a short break at 6:41 pm and reconvened at 6:48 pm. 7. Board Height Discussion Ms. Johnson reviewed the changes in building height with the Board. The Board discussed different scenarios and how to best address the issue of building heights.
