TOWN OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA SPECIAL HISTORIC DISTRICT PRESERVATION COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 19, 2024 MINUTES PowerPoint Presentation Present: David Creech, Chair, James Bakker, Warren Player. Absent: Meghan Gravitt, Corey Barber. Staff: Bryan Hankinson, James Ward, Lynnette Lynes Mr. Creech called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. I. Approval of Agenda Mr. Creech moved for approval of the agenda. Mr. Player seconded the motion. All in favor. II. Discussion and possible action of multi-story accessory structure restrictions and accessory structure height restrictions within the OVHD. Mr. Will Taylor, 309 Bennett St., stated he would like to request that the restriction of one and one-half stories for buildings be amended to be in line with the national definition. He reviewed this request through a PowerPoint presentation. Mr. Taylor asked for an additional five minutes. Mr. Player moved to allow an additional five minutes for Mr. Taylor’s presentation. Mr. Creech seconded the motion. All in favor. Mr. Taylor continued with his presentation. Ms. Linda Balzac, architect, suggested that 156.313.5.A. should be amended to be in line with the national definition. There being no further comments, Mr. Creech closed public comment.  Special Historic District Preservation Commission September 19, 2024 Page 2 of 2 Mr. Creech moved to recommend to Town Council to change the height for all accessory structures in the Old Village Historic District to have a maximum of 25 feet as recommended in the draft zoning code and to remove the restriction of the one-half story requirement. Mr. Player seconded the motion. All in favor. III. Discussion of Items for Next Agenda The Commission agreed to add the following item to next month’s agenda: ➢ Discussion and possible action on amendments to the Design guidelines.
