PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE May 20, 2026 5:30 PM Village Hall, Ebe Auditorium 8811 Campus Drive, Mount Pleasant, WI 53406 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT | 262-664-7800 | planning@mtpleasantwi.gov The village of Mount Pleasant gives notice that the Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, during the agenda of the Board of Appeals that starts at 5:30 PM. The meeting will take place at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive, Mount Pleasant, WI 53406. The hearing's purpose is to hear all interested parties regarding the applications to provide relief from unnecessary hardships resulting from strict application of zoning chapter requirements per Division 90-560: Zoning Variances and using procedures outlined therein. Following the close of the hearing, the Zoning Board of Appeals must make findings of fact and act to approve the requested zoning variance, approve the variance with modifications and/or conditions, refer the zoning variance request back to staff or deny the zoning variance request based on the review criteria and standards of § 90-560.80. Zoning Variance ZVA-26-3 for 1925 Grand Prix Dr TAX PARCEL # 151-03-23-30-384-000 The applicant applied to seek relief from § 14-20(d)(1)(c), which states the Village prohibits installation of pools in front yard areas. This is in the building code section of the Mount Pleasant Code of Ordinances, but is routed to the Zoning Board of Appeals through § 14-31 Appeals. The applicant wishes to construct an in-ground swimming pool in what is, by code, considered the front yard of the property, defined in Article 600 as the area between the home and the public street from which the home gets access. The applicant's justification is that the property has unique circumstances as it is the only home with access to and aligned with Grand Prix Dr. The entire lot is "behind" the backyards of every adjacent parcel on Carriage Hills Dr and Mount Vernon Way, and so approving a pool in the front yard would not cause any detriment to neighbors.
