Response: Mayor Patterson-Howard-The city has not invested in staff development, including the buildings and police department, and other departments, we were not sending staff out to trainings and we have a trainings budget, so that staff stays up to date and then there are times when we have a grant. This grant is five years, $7 million for healthy families and relationships. As part of this grant, they are required to attend conferences and trainings and the grant provides the financing. It is not wasted tax payers money or vacations. Thank you to the watch dogs and transparency. Mount Vernon is the only city in New York to receive this grant. These resources are being brought back to our community. Commissioner Morton- We will continue to support staff trainings. We would have accountability for staff that attends training. We can try to highlight the things that we learn and gain thought these trainings and to show the people the benefits that we are receiving. Acting Council President Brown - Given the current fiscal climate, I understand why people are concerned with staff trainings.
