ECOMONIC DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE Councilperson, Edward Poteat City Council President, Danielle Browne, Esq. DATA COLLECTION SUB-COMMITTEE Meeting Minutes April 10, 2025 1. Sales Tax Contributors o Identify the largest contributors to sales tax in Mount Vernon. o Analyze which industries generate the highest sales tax revenue. 2. Business Association Engagement o Schedule meetings with key business associations, including:  Chamber of Commerce  Industrial Development Agency (IDA)  4th Avenue Business Association  Fleetwood Business Association 3. Commercial Vacancy Rates o Gather data on current commercial vacancy rates within the city. 4. Inventory of Commercial Properties o Compile a list of commercial properties and their current uses. 5. Mapping and Zoning Information o Obtain maps outlining Opportunity Zones (OZ) and Urban Renewal Areas (URA). 6. Planning Department Coordination o Determine what relevant data and resources the Planning Department already has available. 7. City-Owned Commercial Parcels o Create a list of all commercial parcels currently owned by the City of Mount Vernon. 1
