There has been a lot of discussion regarding the new jail. It is going cost $60 million but no plans have been shared for the new facility. There is no need to spend that kind of money to house drunks and meth heads. Mayor Boudreau will need to come before council soon with a recommendation. He requests that the city withhold a recommendation until there are answers to the citizens about the facility Mount Vernon City Council April 10, 2013 Page 2 of 3 and why it costs so much. There has been a lot of discussion regarding Leoff 1 in the news lately. His neighborhood is very important to him and he feels this is a failed project. It looks terrible and detracts from the neighborhood.
