City of Mount Vernon Development Services Committee Meeting Minutes from June 21, 2017 – 6:00 p.m. Meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Present were Council Members Bob Fiedler, Mark Hulst, Mary Hudson, Ken Quam, Dale Ragan, Gary Molenaar and Mayor Jill Boudreau. Staff members present were Development Services Director Chris Phillips, Senior Planner Rebecca Lowell, Building Official Rick Prosser, Engineering Tech Nick McCausland. Council member Joe Lindquist was absent. Minutes Ms. Hudson moved, seconded by Mr. Hulst, to approve the minutes from May 17, 2017. Motion carried. Sub-Area Plan Update Mrs. Rebecca Lowell, presented the Sub-Area plan update. She shared the Open House, that was held at Fire Station #1, had a good turnout. The consultants are working on consolidating all of the comments from the Open House along with the interviews with Property Owners within the Sub-Area. GIS Overview and Demo Mr. Chris Phillips provided a power point presentation detailing GIS uses and needs of the City. He explained that every department with the exception of Finance uses GIS. He detailed the various uses for GIS. Mr. Nick McCausland gave a demonstration of how the City Staff can utilize the maps that we currently have. Questions and discussion continued on how to make this information available to the public. Facility Dude Demo Mr. Phillips provided a power point presentation to explain the function of Facility Dude and the implementation of the various uses of the program. Mr. Prosser gave a brief demonstration of how the program works. Comprehensive Plan Docket Update Mrs. Lowell gave a brief explanation of the 2017 Comprehensive Plan Schedule. Page 1 of 1
