Mount Vernon Fire Department Public Safety Meeting September 6, 2017 Minutes Approval of the Minutes Council member Lindquist made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Motion was seconded by Council member Hudson. Motion passed. FIRE  North Puget Sound Community Paramedic Grant Update o Regional grant focusing on five northern counties, developed around existing Community Paramedic Programs. o Work group working on the Governance Model. Looking toward a one agency one vote model. o September 7th the ACH will be holding a meeting to discuss the different proposal on the table. Decision should be made by January 1st. o Under the grant, Mount Vernon is looking to hire one of the four possible positions. o The Chief received a nod from Council to continue to move forward with the Community Paramedic Grant.  Skagit County Fair o Staff interacted with over 500 kids and 200 adults providing everyone with the prevention message of “Finding 2 Ways Out” – teaching the kids about the importance of developing home evacuation plans.  Response Areas o Chief Brice provided an overview (one year) on call volume by station, if units are responding primarily into their own areas. o Chief’s data was based on “en-route” times combining engines and aid units. o Chief presented a plot map showing the responses.  Questions??? o Dale would like to see the call data by call type. EDASC Presentation  John Sternlict, CEO of EDASC presentation – what they do and programs they are involved in.  Dale questioned on the Fiber network in Skagit County and how does Mount Vernon fit into the County’s plan?  Mark is looking for additional information on non-College Career paths for developing skilled labor in Skagit County. Mayor’s Updates  Check your emails for September calendars.
