Public Safety Committee Minutes June 7, 2023 Police Court Campus, 1805 Continental Place Councilmember Beaton called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm Present Mayor Boudreau Councilmembers: Beaton, Brocksmith, Carías, Molenaar, and Morales Staff: Police Chief Cammock, Fire Chief Brice, City Clerk Jensen, Special Projects Manager Donovan, Assistant Fire Chief Harris, Battalion Chief Horton, Firefighter Tyree, and Fire Marshall Kerth Citizens: 0 1. Approval of May 3, 2023 Minutes Councilmember Carías moved to approve the May 3, 2023 committee minutes. Motion seconded by Councilmember Molenaar. Motion carried 5-0. 2. Fire  Fire apparatus planning: Mr. Horton reviewed the current inventory of Fire Department vehicles. Replacement schedules, order and delivery times, costs, and vehicle options were discussed. Recommended replacement timeframes were presented.  Sprinkler Ordinance: Mr. Kerth discussed the State and City Fire Code, fire sprinkler and alarm system requirements.  Fourth of July preparations: Fire, Police, and Parks Departments are working together to complete an incident action plan. Signs will be placed throughout the City with types of fireworks allowed and discharge hours. Permitting for the City show is in process. Fireworks stand requirements Public Safety Committee June 17, 2023 Page 2 of 2 were reviewed. Chief Cammock discussed enforcement, ticketing, warnings, and confiscation of illegal fireworks. 3. Miscellaneous/For the good of the order  Mr. Harris discussed L&I safety standards for Fire Department personnel, policies, and grant opportunities  Mayor Boudreau received a proclamation request for America Proud Month and asked Council to let her know if they are in favor.  The July committee meeting will be cancelled.
