Public Safety Committee Minutes June 5, 2024 Police Court Campus, 1805 Continental Place Councilmember Beaton called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm Present Mayor Donovan Councilmembers: Beaton, Brocksmith, Carías, Molenaar, and Vander Stoep Staff: Fire Chief Brice, Assistant Fire Chief Harris, Finance Director Volesky, City Attorney Rogerson, and Special Projects Manager, Sexton Citizens: 0 1. Approval of April 3, 2024 Minutes Councilmember Hudson moved to approve the April 3, 2024, and May 1, 2024 minutes. Motion seconded by Councilmember Carías. Motion carried 5-0. 2. Fire  PulsePoint Presentation: EMS Director Josh Pelonio presented information about Pulse Pont Respond, a smart phone app that alerts citizens and off-duty public safety professional to the nearby need for CPR. PulsePoint also provides an Emergency AED Registry designed to mobilize AED’s during cardiac arrest events.  Chief Brice provided an update of the EMS contract that will be presented for approval in August.  The department’s current staffing model and incident response data were reviewed. The 2025 projected revenue from the EMS Levy is 3.6M. Capital needs for housing, equipment and staffing and immediate and long-term funding strategies were discussed. 3. Miscellaneous:  Mr. Rogerson spoke about the need to increase the part-time Legal Assistant position to full-time due to increased workload.  The July 3rd Public Safety Committee is cancelled.
