CALL TO ORDER Chair Sommer called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present 4 - Commissioner Ronit Bryant, Commissioner Joe Mitchner, Vice Chair Jonathan Davis, and Chair Sandy Sommer Absent 1 - Commissioner Steve Filios 3. Renaud, Aubrey, and Evany Wang provided an update and answered the Commission's questions. Speaking from the floor and/or virtually: -Shani Kleinhaus -Cliff Chambers -Gene Lee 5.3 Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan Update Assistant Community Services Director Brenda Sylvia provided a presentation and answered the Commission's questions. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Fiscal Year 2024-25 Parks and Recreation Commission and Urban Forestry Board Work Plan Assistant Community Services Director Kristine Crosby provided a presentation and answered staff's questions. Speaking virtually: -Bruce England M/S Bryant/Davis - To approve the workplan as written with a modification to the pollinator habitat update item to include any and all pollinator habitats within the City and report on various community driven pollinator enhancements. PRESENTATION 5.1 Cuesta Pollinator Habitat Update Recommendation: Receive an update from GreenSpacesMV representative Silja Paymer. 5.2 Annual Canopy Update Recommendation: Receive an update from Canopy representative Evany Wang. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Fiscal Year 2024-25 Parks and Recreation Commission and Urban Forestry Board Work Plan Recommendation: Review and approve the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Parks and Recreation Commission and Urban Forestry Board Work Plan to be forwarded to the City Council for approval (Attachment 1 to the memorandum). Attachments: Memorandum ATT 1 - Fiscal Year 2024-25 Draft Work Plan 6.2 Pickleball Court, Project 23-36-Draft Preliminary Study Findings Recommendation: Review and comment on the Draft Pickleball Court Preliminary Study Findings and recommend a preferred site location and number of dedicated pickleball courts for approval to the City Council. For any agenda item or for Oral Communications on nonagenda items, if there appears to be a large number of speakers, the Chair may reduce speaking time to no less than 1.5 minutes per speaker unless there is an objection from the Commission by majority vote. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.3(b)(1), at least twice the allotted speaking time will be provided to a member of the public who utilizes a translator.
