City of Mountain View Minutes - Final Performing Arts Committee Wednesday, December 4, 2024 6:15 PM Atrium Conference Room and Video Conference, 500 Castro St., Mountain View, CA 94041 SPECIAL MEETING This meeting was being conducted with a virtual component. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair McAlister called the meeting to order at 6:16 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present 3 - Committee Member Carol Donahue, Vice Chair David Garcia, and Chair John McAlister Absent 1 - Committee Member Yao Yao 3. MINUTES APPROVAL Committee Member Yao Yao arrived at 6:18 p.m. Present 4 - Committee Member Carol Donahue, Committee Member Yao Yao, Vice Chair David Garcia, and Chair John McAlister 3.1 Minutes Approval M/S Donahue/Garcia - To approve the November 7, 2024 minutes with the modification of the 5.1 memorandum file name to match the meeting minutes. Yes: 4 - Committee Member Donahue, Committee Member Yao, Vice Chair Garcia, and Chair McAlister 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC - None 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 5.1 Follow Up Home Company Review Questions: TheatreWorks Silicon Valley The Committee members reviewed TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's follow-up submission answers that were in response to questions proposed during the annual Home Company presentation at the October 16th, 2024 Performing Arts Committee meeting. Assistant Community Services Director, Kristine Crosby, answered the Committee's questions regarding engagement differences between Mountain View and Non-Mountain View residents with recreation programs. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 2025 Performing Arts Committee Meeting Dates M/S Garcia/McAlister - To approve the 2025 Performing Arts Committee meeting dates. Yes: 4 - Committee Member Donahue, Committee Member Yao, Vice Chair Garcia, and Chair McAlister 6.2 Modifications to the Initial Home Company Program Revisions Performing Arts Manager Theresa Yvonne reported the Ad hoc committee's modifications to the Home Company Program, in response to receiving TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's proposal. The following members of the public spoke virtually: - Connor Day - Valerie Fenwick M/S Donahue/Garcia - To approve the modifications to the memorandum "Revisions to the Home Company Program", approved on Oct 3rd, 2024. Yes: 4 - Committee Member Donahue, Committee Member Yao, Vice Chair Garcia, and Chair McAlister 7. COMMITTEE/STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS, UPDATES, REQUESTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS Performing Arts Manager Theresa Yvonne provides an update on the SVCreates Municipal Arts Roundtable Luncheon, and seeks replacement to take Chair McAlister's place during the event. Committee Member Donahue agrees. Performing Arts Manager Theresa Yvonne also indicated she will continue to coordinate a meeting between the Committee Chairs of the Performing Arts and Visual Arts Committees. A Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to Chair McAlister for his duties and dedication to the Performing Arts Committee. 8. Notification of 48 hours prior to the meeting will enable the City to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to this meeting. (28 CFR 35.160 (b) (1)). ADDRESSING THE COMMITTEE Interested persons are entitled to speak on any item on the agenda and should make their interest known to the Chair. Anyone wishing to address the Committee on an item not on the agenda may do so during the “Oral Communications” part of the agenda. Speakers are allowed to speak once on any number of topics for up to three minutes. For any agenda item or for Oral Communications on nonagenda items, if there appears to be a large number of speakers, the Chair may reduce speaking time to no less than 1.5 minutes per speaker unless there is an objection from the Committee by majority vote. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.3(b)(1), at least twice the allotted speaking time will be provided to a member of the public who utilizes a translator. City of Mountain View Page 3
