City of Mountain View Minutes - Final Youth Advisory Committee Monday, September 16, 2024 4:30 PM The View Teen Center, 263 Escuela Avenue 1. CALL TO ORDER Recreation Supervisor Greg Milano called the meeting to order at 4:32 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL - Committee Members Andrzejek, Byon, Chan, Jhin, John, Lew, Luna, Ma, Montano, Nair, Oh, Rajasekaran, Tan, Wazhi, and Zayats. Present 12 - Member Dylan Andrzejek, Member Natalie Chan, Member Ryan Jhin, Member Naisha John, Member Taylor Luna, Member Leilani Montano, Member Jayan Nair, Member Jiwoo Oh, Member Shahana Rajasekaran, Member Kaelyn Tan, Member Kavya Wazhi, and Member Meital Zayats Absent 3 - Member Katie Byon, Member Sophia Lew, and Member Victoria Ma 3. APPROVE MINUTES 3.1 Minutes Approval To approve the September 3 meeting minutes. Yes: 12 - Member Andrzejek, Member Chan, Member Jhin, Member John, Member Luna, Member Montano, Member Nair, Member Oh, Member Rajasekaran, Member Tan, Member Wazhi, and Member Zayats 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC Steven Nelson- Wants the YAC to discuss/smooth the relationship with MVWSD and CIty of Mountain View and email the Trustees at MVWSD to improve student input by having youth members on the Middle School site councils. 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None. 6. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Biodiversity & Urban Forest Plan Committee members participated in an interactive presentation about the Biodiversity & Urban Forest Plan. Members filled out a teen input form and answered questions involving their favorite outdoor spaces in Mountain View, and describe your ideal nature setting. Members also mapped out where they participate in nature while in Mountain View. 6.2 Election of the 2024-25 Youth Advisory Committee Leadership Positions To approve the 2024-25 Youth Advisory Committee leadership positions - Chair-Natalie Chan; Vice Chair- Taylor Luna; Secretary- Shahana Rajasekaran; Social Media/Marketing- Miguel Malicse. COMMITTEE/STAFF COMMENTS, QUESTIONS, COMMITTEE REPORTS 8. NEW BUSINESS 6.1 Biodiversity & Urban Forest Plan Committee members will participate in activities about biodiversity, trees, and long-term sustainability. 6.2 Election of the 2024-25 Youth Advisory Committee Leadership Positions Recommendation: To approve the 2024-25 Youth Advisory Committee leadership positions - Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Social Media Coordinator. 6.3 2024-25 Work Plan Committee members will draft a 2024-25 work plan.
