H-16-001 - 2255 Middle Tennessee Boulevard, Anne Davis – Removal of existing fence and
construction of new fence in side yard of their property
This property is located on the west side of Middle Tennessee Boulevard about midway between
E. Main Street and E. Lytle Street. The house was constructed circa 1910 in the Tudor Revival
style of architecture with stone quoins, 1 ½ stories, brick, stone and stucco exterior covering with
a gable roof. The house is a contributing structure in the East Main Street Historic District of the
National Register of Historic Places.
The neighboring property to the south, 2251 Middle Tennessee Boulevard, is currently
renovating their detached accessory building behind their residence and in so doing is extending
their brick wall to the eastward toward the street approximately 16 feet. The applicants would
like to remove their existing wood fence that extends south from their residence and build
another fence from their neighbor’s brick wall to connect to the corner of their house (see aerial
photograph).
They do not yet know if they will be constructing a brick wall or keep the same shadow box style
wooden fence as they currently have. Their decision may be done by the date of the meeting.
Included in the agenda package is an aerial photograph of the property showing the location of
the existing fence and the area for the proposed fence. In addition, I’ve also included
photographs of the neighbor’s fence along with photographs of the front elevations of both
houses. The applicants will be in attendance at the meeting to answer any questions the
Commission may have regarding their proposal.
