NOTICE is hereby given of a meeting of the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee of the City of
Murphy, Collin County, State of Texas, to be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the Murphy
Animal Shelter for the purpose of considering the following items.

I certify that this is a true and correct copy of the Murphy Animal Shelter Advisory
Committee Agenda and that this notice was posted on the designated bulletin board at
Murphy City Hall, 206 North Murphy Road, Murphy, Texas 75094; a place convenient and
readily accessible to the public at all times, and said notice was posted on Thursday,
February 12, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. and will remain posted continuously for 72 hours prior to
the scheduled meeting pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code.

Corporation, the Murphy Municipal Development District Board, the Park and Recreation
Board and/or the Planning and Zoning Commission members who may be present at the
meeting, but they will not deliberate on any city or board business.

1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Margaret Whitt at 6:03 pm.

3. INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION
A. Consider and/or act on approval of the August 21, 2025, Regular Animal Shelter Advisory
Committee Meeting minutes.
Committee Member Stephanie Atwell made a motion to approve the Regular Animal Shelter
Advisory Committee Meeting minutes as presented. Member Jessica Grubbs seconded the
motion. Motion passed 5-0.
B. Discussion on Animal Shelter Volunteer and Educational Programs.
Animal Control Officer Terra Lanahan discussed the Animal Shelter volunteer program,
emphasizing inclusive opportunities for community members and children of all ages to assist
with the animals.
5. STAFF REPORTS
A. October 25, 2025, Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic
The Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic served a total of 82 animals.

B. 2025 Maize Days Event
The location of the Animal Control table was excellent, allowing staff to distribute all the
community giveaways and talk with attendees about the Animal Shelter and upcoming volunteer
opportunities.
C. Animal Shelter Adoptions
The Animal Shelter adopted out 1 dog, 6 cats and 1 bird.
D. Animal Shelter Occupancy.
The Animal Shelter is currently housing 12 dogs and 14 cats.
E. Animal Shelter P/T position.
The part-time Animal Control Technician position has been posted; we are beginning the interview
process and hope to have someone hired soon.

With no further business, Chair Margaret Whitt adjourned the meeting at 7:04 pm.
