COUNCIL OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MURRYSVILLE Reorganizational Meeting – Monday, January 6, 2025 Council of the Municipality of Murrysville held its Reorganizational Meeting on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building. Present at the meeting were Council members Eli Diacopoulos, Dayne Dice, Jason Lemak, Jamie Lingg, Mac McKenna, Matthew Olszewski, Carl Stepanovich, and Mayor Synan. Also present was Chief Administrator, Michael Nestico and Solicitor, Wes Long. REORGANIZATIONAL MEETING CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Synan called to order the Reorganizational Meeting of Monday, January 6, 2025. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Mayor Synan led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. DETERMINATION OF VOTING ORDER – ROLL CALL: Verdale Price determined the voting order and called the roll: Mr. Diacopoulos, Mr. Dice, Mr. Lemak, Mrs. Lingg, Mr. McKenna, Mr. Olszewski, Mr. Stepanovich, and Mayor Synan. ELECTION OF COUNCIL OFFICERS: 4.A. Election of President of Council: Mr. McKenna nominated Dayne Dice for President of Council. Hearing no further nominations, Mayor Synan closed the nominations. Upon a roll call vote: Mr. Diacopoulos – Dayne Dice, Mr. Dice – Dayne Dice, Mr. Lemak – Dayne Dice, Mrs. Lingg – Dayne Dice, Mr. McKenna – Dayne Dice, Mr. Olszewski – Dayne Dice, and Mr. Stepanovich – Dayne Dice. Mr. Dice has been elected President of Council for the Municipality of Murrysville for the Year 2025. 4.B. Election of Vice-President of Council: Mr. Dice nominated Mac McKenna for Vice-President of Council. Hearing no further nominations, Mayor Synan closed the nominations. Upon a roll call vote: Mr. Diacopoulos – Mac McKenna, Mr. Dice – Mac McKenna, Mr. Lemak – Mac McKenna, Mrs. Lingg – Mac McKenna, Mr. McKenna – Mac McKenna, Mr. Olszewski – Mac McKenna, and Mr. Stepanovich – Mac McKenna. Mr. McKenna will serve as Vice-President of Council for the Municipality of Murrysville for the Year 2025. 4.C. CITIZEN INPUT: None COMMENTS BY MAYOR SYNAN: Christmas Tree-cycling – Drop off your live Christmas tree for recycling into mulch at the old stone parking lot between the paved Windstream parking lot (4792 Old William Penn Highway) and Rooz Brews in the Giant Eagle Market District Plaza. Murrysville Recreation Hot Chocolate Hike will be Wednesday, January 22nd, at Townsend Park. Meet at the Gazebo near the upper parking lot. Time: 2:00 p.m. Join the Recreation Department for some fun 2- 3 mile hikes over the winter. These are wooded hikes with some slopes and may require stepping over fallen trees. Public Hearings being at 7:00 p.m. with the Regular Business Meeting immediately following the Public Hearings. Mr. Olszewski seconded. All those present voted aye. Motion approved. Tax Collector – Bonded by Westmoreland County Policy for Real Estate Taxes; Bonded by Municipality of Murrysville for Act 511 - $850,000 4. Chief Administrator - $250,000 5. President of Council - $100,000 6. All other Council Members and municipal employees – blanket bond of $50,000. Mr. Olszewski moved to reaffirm the bonding of officials in the amounts listed in item 13.F. 1 through 6. Mrs. Lingg seconded. All those present voted aye. Motion approved. ADMINISTRATION: 14.A. Authorize staff to advertise Ordinance No. 1097-25, specifying the rate of pension contributions with respect to the Police Pension Plan for the 2025 calendar year Mrs. Lingg made a motion to authorize advertising of Ordinance No. 1097-25, specifying the rate of pension contributions with respect to the Police Pension Plan for the 2025 calendar year. Mr. McKenna seconded. All those present voted aye. Motion approved. EXECUTIVE SESSION: Mr. Stepanovich made a motion to adjourn to a brief Executive Session. There was no action anticipated coming out of the meeting. Mr. Lemak seconded. All those present vote aye. Motion approved.
