City of Nashua Division of Public Health & Community Services 18 Mulberry Street, Nashua, NH 03060 BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING December 11, 2013 12:30 PM 18 Mulberry Street, 2nd floor Nashua, NH 03060 MEETING MINUTES BOH Members Present: Dr. Ajay Sharma Dr. Anthony Storace Alderman Wilshire sent her regrets that she was unable to attend. An informal meeting was begun at 12:38 pm, as there was no quorum. Dr. Storace was present. The formal meeting was called to order at 12:45 pm. upon the arrival of Dr. Sharma. Board members were given an agenda and copies of the department reports. Minutes: Dr. Sharma made a motion to accept the November 2013 minutes. Dr. Storace seconded. Department Reports Department Managers and Program Coordinators summarized their monthly reports. Patty introduced Lisa Vasquez as the new Substance Misuse Coordinator under the Public Health Network Services Grant. Ms. Vasquez began on 12/9/13. Kerran informed the BOH members that their terms of membership would be expiring and that she will be reaching out to them individually to discuss their interest in continuing to serve on the BOH. 1 Presentation Beverly Doolan, the Community Health Improvement Plan Coordinator As requested by the BOH during the October 9, 2013 meeting, Beverly prepared a proposal for funding from the BOH Chairman’s Fund including all funding sources that have contributed to the CHIP initiatives over the past two years. The presentation covered the requested amount of $2,500 from the BOH to be spread out over 2014 and 2015 to support the work of the CHIP work groups. Beverly highlighted the additional $ 54,964.00 that has been applied for and awarded to the many CHIP initiatives by not only the City but also through outside grant funders, Foundations and Community Organizations involved in the CHIP process. After a lengthy discussion regarding the purpose of the BOH Chairman’s Fund, a motion for a vote to approve the funding was not proposed.
