COMMISSION ON PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITIES COUNCIL ROOM SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 6:45 P.M. The Commission on Public Works/Utilities met in regular session, Chair Quicker presiding. On roll call: all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were declared approved. Director of Public Works Flynn reported on five burials at the cemetery, equipment maintenance, mowing and weed eating cemetery and parks, picking up branches and trash, watering flowers, mowing residential lots, hauling brush and compost, cleaning storm drains, street sweeping, mowing landfills, raising manholes on Twenty-First Street, the airport project is moving slowly (trying to correct the drainage problems under the runway and taxiway), started crack sealing, trimming low hanging branches over sidewalks, the Water Department will be water main flushing this week, with the heavy rainstorm this weekend the sewer plant was maxed out and a number of sewer backups into basements along W. Fourth Street and Grand Avenue occurred, the O’Neill Creek fountain is laying along the creek bank now, and a lot of branches are down. Motion Counsell, second Clough, to adjourn. Roehl, Clerk ************ COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL ROOM SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 7:00 P.M. The Common Council met in regular session, Mayor Mabie presiding. On roll call: all members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The minutes of the previous meeting were declared approved. Council Member Clough reported on the September 1, 2015 meeting of the Connect Communities Committee regarding: 1) discussion and recommendation of the 2016 Connect Communities budget ($9,000) to the Economic Development Commission, 2) discussion on and adoption of Connect Communities catch phrase – “Educate – Empower – Transform”, 3) discussion on a Connect Communities logo, and 4) discussion on promotion and planning for the Connect Communities kick-off event on October 1, 2015. Mayor Mabie reported on the September 1, 2015 meeting of the Economic Development Commission regarding: 1) discussion on and approval of the 2015 Connect Communities budget ($3,000) from the Program budget line, 2) work on and referral of the proposed 2016 Economic Development budget, with the inclusion of the 2016 Connect Communities Committee budget ($9,000) in the Program budget line, to the Finance Committee. Council Member Quicker reported on the September 8, 2015 meeting of the Commission on Public Works/Utilities regarding current activities. Mayor Mabie declared all reports filed as presented with the City Clerk. The City Clerk presented the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Funding Assistance Programs SFY 2016 Grant in the amount of $4,902.03 from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Motion Clough, second Counsell, to accept and appropriate the $4,902.03 EMS Grant funds to Account No. 52300 Ambulance Service. All Aye. Chief of Police Klueckmann reported on August, 2015 complaints, citations, warnings, arrests and investigations, and participation in Wisconsin’s annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. City Clerk Roehl presented a Certificate of Appreciation and a thank you letter from The Highground for the City’s continued support. Tavern Operator’s License Applications: Jacqueline L. Dayton and Kayla N. Wagner Motion Quicker, second Neville, to grant all the listed licenses. All Aye.
