FINAL - MINUTES OF THE NEW BRAUNFELS LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD REGULAR MEETING OF TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 2024 AGENDA 1. CALL TO ORDER Amy Stone called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. 2. ROLL CALL Amy Stone, Dana Watson, Carol Bissett, Adam Mauldin, Kristin Fain Others Present: Gretchen Pruett, Cole Johnson 3. PRESENTATIONS Introduce Cole Johnson as new Library Director, Southeast Branch Updates. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A) Discussion and consider approval of the minutes from the meeting on July 23, 2024. Carol made a motion to approve the July minutes with one correction, and Kristin seconded. The minutes were unanimously approved. 5. COMMUNICATIONS None at this time This time is for citizens or board members to address The Library Advisory Board on issues and items of concerns not on this agenda. REPORTS Tuesday, August 27, 2024 New Braunfels Library Advisory Board Regular Meeting Library Director -Monthly Operations Update New Braunfels Public Library Foundation -Monthly Operations Update Friends of the Library -Monthly Operations Update A. Library Director – Gretchen gave the monthly update for July. B. New Braunfels Public Library Foundation- Cookie Roark- New president of the FOL. Full board. Big Give coming up. Stay at home book ball getting organized. C. Friends of the Library: Chip Frank- updates for website and online donation. Big Give 9/18 – 9/19. Book sale in October 11 – 12 7. DISCUSSION AND ACTION A) Discussion and possible action on Library Policy 2.1 Use of Library Facilities. Gretchen- discussed the changes to the policy. Incorporating Westside Community Center into the policies of the library under the Library Advisory Board. Carol moved to revise the policy, Adam seconded, all in favor, none opposed, the motion carries, and policy is approved. B) Discussion and possible action on Library Policy 2.20 Programs, Displays and Exhibits. Gretchen- discussed the policy. Added the WCC to the language. Might consider legally applying for the designation of Library System which will include the WCC. Kristin moved to endorse the policy, Dana seconded, all in favor, none opposed, the motion carries, and policy is approved with revisions. 8.
