New Carlisle Town Council 124 E. Michigan Street, New Carlisle, Indiana Public Hearing, May 21, 2024, 6:30PM The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. President Kauffman called the Public Hearing to order with Vice-President Doll, Council Member Colanese, Council Member Abbott, Marshal Croymans, Public Works Director John Mrozinski, Special Projects Assistant Susan Moffitt, Town Attorney Andrea Halpin, Town Engineer Jared Huss, Deputy Clerk Yvonne Hoffmaster, and Clerk-Treasurer Julie Brown present. Also in attendance: JJ LaBounty (LFA), Bob Middlebrook, Carol Middlebrook, Dan Caruso, Gabe Hartzler (Baker Tilly), Tyler Coffel (Baker Tilly), Keith Wolak, Jenilee Brooks, Mary Countryman, and Steve Vojtko. Absent : Council Member Short Public Hearing for Ordinance #1466 (Additional Appropriations for Demolition of 119 W. Front St.) President Kauffman read in full, Ordinance #1466 APPROVING ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION IN THE BUDGET OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE GENERAL FUND TO FUND THE DEMOLITION OF 119 WEST FRONT STREET. President Kauffman asked for public comments. There were none. Public Hearing for Ordinance #1467 (Amending Sewage Rates) President Kauffman read in full, Ordinance #1467 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE NEW CARLISLE MUNICIPAL SEWAGE WORKS UTILITY RATES. Tyler Coffel from Baker Tilly made a small presentation explaining the reason for the rate increase. President Kauffman asked for public comments. Dan Caruso asked if this was in relation to the upgrading of the town’s side of the water treatment facility. Jared answered that this is due to the internal town structure upgrades to lift stations, etc., and it is sewer only, not water. He also stated that the town had submitted grants and other opportunities to lessen the burden on the taxpayer and will find out more information in July. No other comments or questions were presented.
