Town of New Chicago Parks Board Meeting Agenda DATE: 12/7/2021 Start Meeting: Meeting started at 6:00 PM. Joe called the meeting to order starting with roll call. Roll Call: Kim Krikava (President) - Absent Joe Bachman (Secretary) - Present Trilaina Bachman - Present Morgan McCabe - Present Dave Anderson (Council Member) - Absent Minutes: October Meeting Minutes – Trilaina made motion to approve. Morgan seconded the motion. Motion passed. Ordinance: None Old Business: • Winterizing Buildings o Winterizing of the buildings has been completed. New Business: • Easter Egg Hunt o More planning for this will take place in the February meeting. • 2022 Budget o Approximately $44,000 is in the budget for this year. • Spring Cleanup o Looking at April 9th/10th to do spring cleanup at the park in preparation of the Easter Egg hunt on April 17th. We would like to reach out to area high schools to offer this as a way for their students to do their community service hours for graduation. • Selling of old equipment o Want to make a list of items that are no longer used/broken/etc. Need to find out the policies for disposal or selling of the items. Legal Reports: None Announcements: None Other Business: None Open Forum for community (3 mins per person): None Comments from Board Members: • Morgan had an idea for this spring doing a “Rummage in the Park”. This would be held sometime in May. Allow people to rent spaces that are marked out in the grass area. Thinking we could do 10’ spaces. Price is TBD at a later date. • Another idea that Morgan had for next winter is a “Cookie Walk”. Allow local businesses in New Chicago, Lake Station, and Hobart to come out showcase their business. The businesses would either bake or buy cookies to hand out to people and the people coming to it would buy a box or bag to place their cookies in for a certain fee.
