Borough of New Providence Board of Health Minutes May 5th, 2021 CALL TO ORDER: Pat Silvagni called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm6 ROLL CALL: Pat Silvagni, Dr. Lake, Dr. Nelson, Chris Stieh, Dr. Carniol Also present: Dr. Robinson, Jaime Lauren, Megan Avallone, Jennifer Aranda Beau Preston, Diane Wolfe, and Lisa McKnight, Claudia PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Pat Silvagni led the Pledge Of Allegiance. PUBLIC NOTICE: This is a public meeting of the Board of Health of the Borough of New Providence, County of Union and State of New Jersey. Adequate notice of this meeting has been given in accordance with P.L. 1975, Chapter 231, in that an annual notice or revision was made in conformance with Section 13 of the Act. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: March 3, 2021 Pat Silvagni asked for approval of the minutes from March 3rd, Dr. Lake approved the minutes and Dr. Nelson seconded the motion. PUBLIC HEARING OF CITIZENS: COMMUNITCATIONS: Animal Control Solutions – March 2021 No Further Action Needed Animal Control Solutions - April 2021 No further Action Needed OLD BUSINESS: Members discussed with Beau their concerns for Bagel Café with the increased volume now that it is the only Bagel shop in town, and receiving an unconditional satisfactory. Beau will follow up with inspections on these three establishments. There was a question about a resident having a Beauty Shop operating out of their residence. After further investigation, this is not true. Megan reviewed the Covid cases with the board and the numbers are coming down. NEW BUSINESS: Board members discussed the possibility of having a Tattoo Parlor in town at 1312 Springfield Avenue. Plans have been submitted, but with the strict codes in town, nothing has been approved. There is a Tattoo Parlor in Westfield and it is well maintained and clean. Lisa McKnight updated us about the Marijuana Dispensary and the steps the council has taken so there is additional time to review the options available. Discussion regarding the Governor’s executive order and direction on reopening of the restaurants and outside public areas. Also discussed now billing the 13 restaurants that were charged $ 147.00 for their yearly permit, $35.00 per month for the remaining 7 months of the year. HEALTH DIRECTOR’S REPORT: Megan working with the public health nurse, Jennifer, will be starting a program to vaccinate home bound residents in New Providence. The covid numbers have been steadily dropping with more people getting their vaccinations. Following the CDC rules, even if you are vaccinated or not you must wear a mask when traveling on an airline. The traveling quarantine has been removed if you have your covid vaccination so you no longer have to quarantine for 2 weeks upon your return. HEALTH INSPECTORS REPORT: Beau was questioned about the Conditionally Satisfactory on the three restaurants in town. Beau assured the Board members that he will inspect these establishments to make sure they remain compliant and continue with their satisfactory ratings. The Board wants to make sure the customers are protected and the increased volume will not cause the quality of the business suffer. PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE’S REPORT: Jennifer also echoed the fact that the Covid cases are dropping. The recent cases in town have been mostly adults and the cases have not been so severe. There have been a few day care cases, nothing too serious. Jennifer went to 10 home bound resident’s to give covid shots. Only 2 changed their minds or refused.
