Aaron Sundeen seconded the motion. Carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mike Montello made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. Kent Elkin seconded the motion. Carried unanimously. Forward New Richmond Committee Meeting June 30, 2025  MEMO Prepared for: Forward New Richmond Staff Contact: Beth Thompson Meeting: Forward New Richmond Committee - 20 Aug 2025 Subject: Community Development Updates - FNR August 2025 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Building / Zoning Updates: January 1, 2025 - July 31, 2025 Number of Building Permits - 395 Number of New Dwelling Units - 22 Number of Inspections - 1,090 Residential Construction Value - $31,665,810 Commercial Construction Value - $7,829,730 Institutional Construction Value - $47,185,133 Industrial Construction Value - $141,000 Building Permit Fees - $397,873.50 Occupancy Updates: In July, the building inspector issued occupancy for eight single-family homes, two twin homes and one duplex - both A and B Units. Building Permit Updates: Throughout the month of July, our Building and Zoning staff have been extremely busy responding to storm-related inquiries and processing a high volume of permits. We’ve received approximately 180 permits for re-roofing projects alone, in addition to 22 new dwelling units and a variety of miscellaneous permits for additions, fences, pools, and more. We continue to ask residents for patience as we work through the influx of applications. I am incredibly proud of our team—their professionalism, patience, and commitment to providing excellent customer service during this busy time have truly stood out. General Updates: The City of New Richmond received five responses to its Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Industrial Development Consulting Services, which was due on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. An interview schedule has been finalized, with interviews planned for mid-August. Depending on the outcome of the interviews, a recommendation may be presented to the City Council at its September meeting. City staff is currently preparing a draft ordinance based on the discussions and recommendations from the Affordable Housing Committee. Once the draft has been thoroughly reviewed and refined, it will be presented to the City Council during a work session for further consideration and feedback. Economic Development: Staff continue to work on our 2025 Business Retention and Expansion (BR&E) program. This year, we’ve been conducting follow-up phone calls and making pop-in visits to local businesses to maintain strong relationships and stay informed about their needs and challenges. In addition to BR&E efforts, we are actively working on a number of potential land sales involving City-owned property, which could support future development and job creation. I also continue outreach efforts to attract new businesses to New Richmond, including targeted phone calls and networking with site selectors and industry professionals. Finally, I remain engaged with the ReNew Richmond group as we explore opportunities and strategies to support downtown revitalization and long-term economic growth. Page 2 of 2
