Mayor and City Council,
The New Ulm Human Rights Commission is requesting use of the City Hall parking lot at
Second North Street and Broadway for a Welcoming Week Event that the Commission is
planning for Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We would like to start
setting up at 4:30 p.m. if possible. If we are not able to block it off at that time, we can start
setting up as people leave the parking stalls.
The purpose of this event is to create an event that brings together community members of all
backgrounds and provides an inclusive space to gather and create relationships and community
togetherness.
The plan includes inviting food trucks, community partners to set up booths to showcase what
our community offers, music, and inviting the Park and Recreation Department to bring the
puppet wagon or bouncy house if they are able.
We feel that the location in the parking lot will be visible to the public, easy access, and a logical
place to plan this event. It is a Friday evening so it will be after business hours.
We understand that we cannot use the leased parking spaces. Attached is a copy of the layout
used for last year’s Welcoming Week Event showing locations for the information booths and
food trucks.
Thank you for your consideration.
