6. Hans Joohs Cultural Exchange Program
6.1 Outbound Hans Joohs Intern
Interviews were held and the committee recommended Martha Balge, as our
outbound intern. Larry was going to let Lisa know. We also want to encourage
Isaac Boettcher to apply again. Larry let us know that Zach Helget sent him an
email stating that it would not work with his employer, and he was removing
himself from the candidates list.
6.2 Inbound Hans Joohs Intern
Larry Mack reported that he had communicated with Ted Marti and they
would accept the intern at Schells Brewery. Since the County Administration was
not sure of how this would work with them, and they were meeting to discuss the
possibility on Tuesday the 4th the commission members felt Samual Knoops
would be a great fit to go with Schells Brewery participating in the program.
There was discussion around host families will return to this in April, once we get
confirmation on who will be coming.
7. Recognition Award
The reception will be held at Kegel Klub on April 7th at our meeting. We have
checked with Kim Hanson and that date will work for them. Will ask Lisa Pelzel to
invite the Friends of Sister Cities. It will be potluck with appetizers from Kegel

Klub. John Vorwerk will get the plaque ordered. We will meet in the Chamber
then move to Kegel Klub.
German Language Day Camp. This was tabled as two of the commission
members were absent from the meeting. Jayne Maday-Hulke stated in talking
with high school teacher Peter Engeldinger the dates for a 2025 camp do not
work for him. Discussion will continue during the April meeting.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 5:15 pm at City Hall
Conference Room.
2025 Brat Stand - Jayne Maday-Hulke will contact Cash Wise to schedule dates
