Box 636 New Ulm, Minnesota 56073-0636 January 12, 2006 Meeting Minutes from the Recognition Committee Meeting The meeting was held at City Hall on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. The following summarizes what was discussed: 1. The committee decided that the award should be an annual event 2. The recipient could be a person, organization, or group 3. The criteria for receiving the award is not finalized and more input from the entire Sister Cities Commission is needed 4. Deciding factors could be that they have strengthened and broadened the cultural bonds between New Ulm and Ulm/Neu Ulm. 5. They have done this for three years and or had a significant impact on the economic or cultural position of the city of New Ulm. 6. Residents of the City of New Ulm and surrounding areas can submit the nomination 7. A city wide recognition reception for the recipient should be planned 8. The award does not need to be kept a secret 9. The award could be in partnership with another event 10. Jolene will talk with Jim Bartels about the original intent of the committee 11. The recipient should be from New Ulm or the surrounding community 12. The recipient does not need to be a member or past member for the Sister Cities Commission.
