Records shred is scheduled on Nov 4th. WATER/WASTE-WATER – JARED MCFARLAND: Absent FIRE-CHIEF PARKS: There have been 14 calls since we last reported. The burn ban is still in effect as of this meeting. We are working on getting all our fire hoses service tested. EMERGENCY SERVICES: TRI COUNTY- Nothing to report MAYOR: 1. We had our retreat at Salt Fork yesterday from 9am to 1pm. It went very well. The department heads and safety council were all present, and responded very well to the days agenda. I can send you the agenda and materials if you want to see what we did. Lisa presented the budget for each department and how it fit into the overall budget. Frank Polen, from Buckeye Career Center, presented on the importance of Leadership. We spoke about what the supervisors liked and disliked about their jobs, as well as what it will take to improve their job in the community. We also discussed strengths, weaknesses, opportunities within their position and the community, and obstacles they see and have to find solutions for. 2. I spoke with another sand company who want to build on the same side of the road as St Mary’s Cement. They are also looking at 100 train cars a week. This will be silica sand , which is used for fracking but is also used for computer chips. They have asked for an address to start completing the paperwork. They will have 3 lines coming off the spur, but it will all be before the crossing. 3. The EPA sent a letter granting us VAP qualifications to clean up Simonds Factory site. This means Phase II is completed with the testing. They will pay for the cleanup as long as their money lasts. We will be speaking with companies that perform those cleanups ASAP to get it started. 4. Dave Archer is applying for the open Zoning Officer’s position. I spoke with him this week and wants in to help us keep improving the community. 5. I travelled to Portsmouth to get more information on the different USDA programs on grants and loans. There are a number of good programs that can assist us for the town, including infrastructure for new developments. NEW BUSINESS: 18-24 Resolution authorizing the mayor of the Village of Newcomerstown to prepare and submit an application to participate in the Ohio public works commission state capital improvement and/or local transportation improvement program and to execute contracts as required.
