City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee
Minutes for May 13, 2024, Meeting, 6:15 PM
Roll Call of Members and Introduction of Visitors
■ Present are: Lee Krumholz, Hal Cantwell, Paul Warren, Anne Wimberly (Ward
8), Daniel Murphy (Ward 4), Sara Sancak TSET.
■ Ex-officio: James Briggs, David Riesland, Thomas Zermeno.
Minutes from March meeting approved at 6:20 PM.
City of Norman updates.
Thomas Zermeno. Busy bike season. Bike school at the end of last month for29 trainees.
Bike fatality accident reported in NW Norman. Bike Roundup in Norman occurred with
NPD involved . Also, NPD was involved in Bicycle Rodeo event at Jackson School.
Thanks to Norman Police personnel Maxwell Graves and James Fletcher at Jackson Rodeo
and Jason Brakhage and Zach Dawson at Bike to School and Tu Vu at the Bike Roundup.
David Riesland. Flood Ave., multimodal path from Robinson to Tecumseh bids opened last
Thursday. Construction starting in August or Sept. ODOT transportation alternatives
closes soon, will try to get funding for two more miles from 72nd to 96th. Currently have
funding for 48th to 72nd. Legacy Trail over Robinson and along the tracks should be completed
this summer.
James Briggs. Trying to get PBR back to fix up the bike park. Bike racks will likely be
refurbished. AIM Norman meetings going on. One of the top things that people want to
see is trails. So, BAC may be tasked to provide input on trails.
May is bike month with Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 17th. James distributed
brochures. Several groups will converge on Andrews Park at 8:30. Ride leaders designated.
City will issue Proclamation.
Norman cycling brochure is being revised. City to continue to work on it.
David mentioned that Jose Jimenez mentioned a missing pedestrian connection to Saxon
park. This will be worked out when Saxon is built out in the future.
Next meeting is June 10, 2024. Adjourn at 7:05.
