Minutes for July 14, 2025, Meeting at 5:15 PM

The Bicycle Advisory Committee of the City of Norman, Cleveland County,
State of Oklahoma, met in Regular Session in the City of Norman
Development Center Conference Room B, on the 14th day of July, 2025, at
5:15 p.m., and notice of the agenda of the meeting were posted at the
Municipal Building at 201 West Gray and on the City website at least 24
hours prior to the beginning of the meeting.
• Roll Call of Members and Introduction of Visitors
o Members present: Minty, Prather, Murphy, Warren, Wimberly, Ahmadi, Zimmerman,
and Cantwell
▪ Approval of June 9, Meeting Minutes
• Zimmerman made a motion to approve the minutes; Seconded by Minty;
Motion passed by unanimous consent
BAC Member Updates – City of Norman Updates:
o James Briggs, NPRD
• Work day at Creekside Bike Park
• Work at skate park and work planned for jump lines
• Trespassing at Creekside is becoming an issue
• Post/cable along 24th and fencing possible solution
o David Riesland, Norman Transportation
• Path on Flood Ave is almost complete
• 48th – 72nd: shooting for September letting
• 24th – 36th and Cedar Lane getting asphalt repatched
o Thomas Zermeno, NPD
• New academy has started
• Working with OU to coordinate bike events
• Two bike schools since last meeting
• Plans for the upcoming football season
o Status of Cycle Norman Brochure + Map
• James introduced the latest amendments to the map.
• Will get final map to City Council to replace the current map
• This new map will be a “living” document that can be amended when needed.
o Presentation on History, Use, Guidance and Discussion of Bollards as used on
Multimodal Pathways
• Minty brought up the safety issues surrounding bollards. Riesland recommended
to create a subcommittee to study bollards.
• Cantwell said that he will put the subcommittee on the next meeting’s agenda.
o Discussion of plan and team to work towards City Bicycle Codes revisions
o Statement or Topics of Interest by Visitor(s) –
o New Business/Open discussion
August 11, 2025 – Next BAC Meeting
