Norman Greenways Vision (Mark Nanny, Greenbelt Commission Chair) Presentation of the Greenbelt Master Plan ideas with a history of the greenbelt concept in Norman from 1996 to the present. The Priority Trail effort was to identify specific segments of trail from the Master Plan that could be moved forward within the city. The question was posed: “what trails can establish a foundation for a more extensive system of trails through urban and rural Norman?” The priority trail plan was presented to the Norman Council Community Planning and Transportation Committee in May 2016. A public presentation was made at a September 2016 Council meeting which received a vociferous response from citizens, particular Ward 5 landowners living along Franklin Road. The level and intensity of response was not expected. The BAC agreed to work with the Greenbelt Commission to move the concepts of the priority trails forward in the planning process. B. Update to Bike Skills Park subcommittee (Tom/all) James Briggs has requested a survey by City crews of the proposed ‘dedicated park land’ at 24th and Lindsey. This survey will provide answers to the status of platted lots within the park land area. There are land purchase funds left for neighborhood parks and it may be possible to re-align these funds to put into the proposed bike skills park. Tom suggested that a Missouri company, Progressive Bike Ramps, could be invited to a future BAC meeting to talk with the Committee about the bike skills park design. C. Review recommended changes to Norman Bike Map cycling routes & signage / Schedule for New Bike map review: discussion was tabled for the December meeting so that Angelo Lombardo could be present.  From October Minutes: o Discussion for considering Indian Hills from 60th to 72nd east with shoulder/bike lane for future (long term) proposed. o Discussion related to wanting to keep as indicated on map the Rock Creek section with multi-use path AND striped bike lane/shoulder proposed. This allows for experienced and inexperienced riders to use this section more effectively. o Discussion related to making bike routes have some wayfinding element (e.g. the numbers should correspond to some type of path from an area to another area, indication of number of miles for a loop, etc.). This may be an opportunity for more ‘marketing’ type maps for users. Ideally would fold into the work Parks is doing with digital indicators/markers. This is a good long term planning idea. • Updates to the map to existing conditions, changes to add Basic Route to various locations indicated in the chart • Confirmed changes provided – map to be updated for next meeting “final bike map” next meeting then send to Transportation Committee D.
