City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for May 14, 2018 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Executive Conference Room (1) Roll Call and Introduction of Visitors Attendees: Lee Krumholz, Hal Cantwell, Thomas Woodfin, Meghan Wieters, Sunni Bailey-Koszarek, Gordon Carrie (2) Approval of April Meeting Minutes Edit to item C: Single track review at Ruby Grant should read 1 mile to 1.5 mile track Motion by: Sunni Bailey-Koszarek 2nd: Lee Krumholz Unanimous approval (3) Agenda A. Norman Open Streets Event: Sunday, 4/15/2018 Recap (Meghan) 20-30 kids did the bike rodeo. Discussion on suggestions for next year’s location: near train depot, Main St east of Classen/Porter, Alameda B. Earth Day 2018: Sunday, 4/22/18 Recap (Michelle) Michelle, Meghan and Lee attended the booth C. Update on Bike Skills Park project (James) First community meeting to be in lieu of our next BAC meeting; at City Hall June 11th at 6 pm; 2nd Committee meeting in July Need to notify teenager groups to encourage participation at community meeting; general public to encourage participation. D. Status reports: • City of Norman Updates: (Angelo, James) Hwy 9 – construction at Postal Center area going well; 1 month to completion of project; working on getting an amendment to include a connection Imhoff/Constitution/Classen with 10’ path on westside of roadway Hwy 9/E 24th – easement donated by OU for creating better access 36th – 48th – walk through w. ODOT completed; Cardinal Engineering; may bid the project this calendar year Bidders for ODOT project Hwy 9 (108th to 156th) have been calling to get feedback on how to accommodate for bike for project –meaning potentially including the grading of the area so it will be less expensive/easier for Norman to put in bike facility in future. Road diet projects are in the final stretch (30 days to completion) Constitution and Flood projects are under contract; Utilities work on 24th will replace multimodal path with concrete • OU Crimson Cruisers Bikeshare (Kyle) Going generally well; 25 more bikes added to system Corporate sponsorship – need to follow-up with Council about who may shepherd an effort to get corporate sponsors to potentially have bikes for Norman area • Web-based Rider-friendly Bike Maps Finishing up the general map with graphics; Meghan will send her InDesign file to share with graphics consultant to add a snappy photo for the front.
