City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for January 14, 2019 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Multi-purpose Conference Room (1) Roll Call and Introduction of Visitors Attendees: Hal Cantwell, Sunni Bailey-Kosarek, Michelle Carr, Gordon Carrie, Chris Southern, Lee Krumholz, Tom Woodfin Visitors: Laura Matlock, – Health Dept, Open Streets Project (2) Approval of December Meeting Minutes & New Business for January 2019 agenda Motion by Hal Cantwell 2nd By Gordon Carrie; approved unanimously (3) Agenda • Norman Bike Skills Park update (Briggs) Design-Build contract approved – Manufacturing jumps at consultant facility, construction in spring – opening in late spring/summer (yay!) • Review homework routes by members to promote cycling in Norman (Wieters) No updates • Legacy Trail Eco-counter disposition: (Woodfin//Lombardo) – no updates • 2018 BAC Annual Activities Summary to City Council Subcommittee: Angelo to send 2 most recent PowerPoint slide shows to Tom as draft basis • Open Streets Norman 2019 Laura Matlock LauraMa@health.ok.gov Discussion of BAC’s involvement: to have a table with info & Norman Bike Maps, A Bike Rodeo could be conducted in an adjacent parking lot - Michelle Carr still has grant funds from her LCI training that could be spent on a Bike Rodeo.Lead group rides from the event site similar to rides at 2016 Open Streets event. BAC and BLN members available. Also, Norman PD Bicycle Patrol members may be available to lead group rides. BAC organized and led easy and intermediate rides hourly during 2017 Open Streets. Officer Wilson suggested that 4 bicycle officers could participate. • City of Norman Updates: o Angelo Lombardo: Norman initiatives include the Transportation Bond initiatives, storm drainage capital projects and the still-in-edit-mode storm water utility. Noted 2nd reading of Transp Bond Initiatives next Tuesday, Jan 22nd 6:30 pm. and importance of BAC presence as visible support. o Bikeshare / CART / Scooters in Norman – Walter at Buchannan is coordinating repairs on Bikeshare bikes, T. Woodfin to contact Chris Glenn at OU Parking & Transit about summary ride counts/miles/usage – this info to be added to BAC annual summary. o Potential Multi-Use Path between Lindsey & Hwy 9 Multi-Use Path to be added to CTP so considered for long-term implementation. Pursuing a multiuse path may be the more likely pathway to connect the bike lanes on other sections of 24th SE with the section designed/built before the CTP was in place. o Teddy Wilson Norman PD – Bike Team (Mike Zermeno) working with Councilmember Clark to create adult bicycle school this spring. This would  probably be a modification of bike training course through International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA – Zermeno is an instructor for this course).
