City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for February 11, 2019 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Multi-purpose Conference Room (1) Roll Call and Introduction of Visitors Attendees: Hal Cantwell, Sunni Bailey-Kosarek, Gordon Carrie, Lee Krumholz, Tom Woodfin Visitors: Laura Matlock – Health Dept, Open Streets Project, Thomas Zermeno Lead Instructor, Norman PD Bike Team (2) Approval of January Meeting Minutes & New Business for March 2019 agenda (3) Agenda • Norman Bike Skills Park update (Briggs) Conference call with PBR this week. Cardinal Engineering designing the gravel parking lot to be constructed along south service road. Expect to initiate construction of park in late March/early April • Legacy Trail Eco-counter disposition: (Woodfin/Lombardo) Woodfin asked where the eco- counters are located along Legacy Trail? • BAC engagement in Open Streets Norman 2019 (Matlock): the BAC offer to lead rides at OS enthusiastically endorsed by Open Streets Board. Cantwell & Krumholz discussed short local in local neighborhood. BAC can produce a flyer about cycling in Norman + recommended routes & times for the rides. Krumholz to send brief text to Matlock to include in event advertising. Sunni will connect on social media. • Review DRAFT BAC 2018 Annual Summary to Council Subcommittee (All) no report • City of Norman Updates: • James Briggs PARD • Angelo Lombardo Engineering - Norman Transportation Bond initiatives • Teddy Wilson Norman PD – presentation by Thomas Zermeno, Norman PD, on proposed Adult Bicycle Course. Discussion of complete training course by Zermeno, an experienced & highly qualified instructor. BAC reviewed printout of draft presentation. Question: who is the target audience for such a course? Discussion of offering to OU freshmen and Greek organizations in first week of fall semester. MOU exists between NPD and OU PD so access to that audience is simpler.
