• Mr. Jack Dawson wished to express some concerns and opinions he had regarding the bike
lanes in Norman. Paraphrasing his statements: He stated that he “hated’ the new green bike
lanes. He believes that the bicycle lanes should be wider. He stated there should be no green
path/coating demarcation as he feels this creates a more unsafe situation between vehicles and
cyclists. He mentioned concerns about the white lines marking the shoulders of U.S. Route 77 in
Cleveland County that he thought were part of the City of Norman bike lane system and it was
explained this was not the case.
• City of Norman Updates:
• Angelo Lombardo Norman Transportation initiatives: Mr. Angelo Lombardo informed the
BAC that the July meeting was most likely his last as he was retiring.
• He did report the City Staff had been contacted with a citizen’s concern that the rumble
strips found in some part of the City presented an unsafe riding condition. BAC
members were charged with gathering what information or opinions they could related to
this concern.
• Also the East 24th Avenue widening project has been awarded and the work will
commence in July and is scheduled to last 18 months.
