City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes for October 12, 2020 Meeting, 6:15 PM Virtual Meeting via Zoom • Roll Call of Members and Introduction of Visitors  Present are Lee Krumholz, Hal Cantwell, Chris Southern, George Ahmadi, Sarah Shanks Jordan Evans, Thomas Zermeno, David Riesland, and Krystin Richardson • Approval of September Meeting Minutes. Approved at 6:20 PM. Hal mentioned that State meetings including BAC meetings may have to return in person in December if there is no new action to allow Public Meetings virtually. • • City of Norman Updates:  David Riesland report. The skatepark is scheduled to open on Nov. 19.  Currently working on southbound lanes and working on Robinson intersection of 24th Ave., bond project. Hwy 9 multimodal path 36th-48th Path construction is complete. Retaining wall is still needed as well as sod is still needed. Filling in gaps on 24th and 36th Northwest will let next month with construction starting next year.  Thomas Zermeno, Norman PD. Department is in a hiring process. There are 6 new bike officers that will get their training in November. Fewer violations at recent football game.  Krystyn Richardson. Several additions were suggested for the bike map. Striped changed to bike lanes, drops to more specific images. Creekside bike park and clear bay trails. Red lines are different thicknesses. Perhaps make ½ section lines thicker. Change paved to blue and bike lane to green. Some issues with the map and basemap. Back side. Make some of the fonts larger and get rid of the extra tips. Add to not ride into oncoming traffic. Change non-emergency number.  George will be working with the city to reinstate Bikenorman.org.  City will be operating detection cameras which will distinguish whether they are bikes, pedestrians, direction of movement and gender.  Transportation committee would like us to explore protected bike lanes. There was some concern about the intersection from hwy 9 and 12th. We can make some recommendations to the transportation committee.  Bike counts will be done tomorrow. Next meeting will be Nov. 9th. • Adjournment.
