City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Agenda Minutes for November 8, 2021 Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Executive Conference Room  Roll Call of Members and Introduction of Visitors o Members Present: Hal Cantwell, Lee Krumholz, Chris Southern, Sarah Shanks, Nathalie Rocher, Olga Caulfield, George Ahmadi o Ex Officio Members present: James Briggs, David Riesland, Thomas Zermeno o Visitor: Jack Dawson.  Changes to Oct. minutes: change nest to next. Change Reeves to Reaves.  Minutes approved as amended at 6:20. o BAC Member Updates. Have Brian Johnson apply. Jay will not be available for several months and we should let the clerk know that we can use another member. o City of Norman Updates: James Briggs, CoNPaRD Reaves Park is closed near Timberdell and trails will be reconnected. Construction will last about a year. Park people are meeting to create a Parks needs assessment. This will be coming out in near future and may be helpful in BAC evaluations. Senior center is to be on Norman Regional Hospital Porter Campus. Should be built in 18 months after starting. Reaves Park will be mostly open in the spring. David Riesland, Norman Transportation Legacy Trail Gap Project is finished. Thanks to James and Parks Dept., the Constitution path will be built from Jenkins to 7-11. It will be on the north side of Constinution and will begin in April or May. Constitution will stay open. Thomas Zermeno, Norman PD An officer that left in the past is returning. Sevnen have graduated from the recent academy. Police have borrowed two -ebikes from Banelli’s. They are testing them as a team. Additional Discussion Sarah pointed out that the Bike Lane separation barriers used by Scissortail Park in OKC can be dangerous. Not as protective for cyclists because they don’t present a barrier for cars. Sarah felt more comfortable on the bike lane on 24th compared to the path on Walker. 24th Avenue East improvements have gotten a lot of positive comments. Hal mentioned that we may use the green areas on bike lanes to provide accent areas to highlight conflict areas. It may be possible to educate cyclists to be safer in the future. Thomas introduced the bicycle accident report. There was some discussion of times of day, location, etc. Jack Dawson spoke.
