City of Norman Bicycle Advisory Committee Minutes Related to Agenda for February 14, 2022, Meeting, 6:15 PM City of Norman Municipal Complex 201 West Gray, Executive Conference Room  Roll Call of Members and Introduction of Visitors o Members present: Hal Cantwell, Chris Southern, Briann Zimmerman, George Ahmadi, Michael Dennis Dick, Nathan Barron  Approval of November 8, 2021, Meeting Minutes o Approval of the minutes was postponed until the next meeting due to new members being present and not having a copy.  No December nor January Minutes as there was no Quorum for official meeting Agenda Minutes o BAC Member Updates – Three new Members to BAC o City of Norman Updates: o Thomas Zermeno, PD – Update on status of PD staffing and NPD Bike Corps. o James Briggs, NPaRD – Reaves Park Construction Update – to be ready for Medieval Fair in April is target schedule. Pump Track location for future discussion. o David Riesland, Transportation  City of Norman gave presentation on possible bike lane addition at James Garner Avenue. After review, the BAC recommended to NOT add marked bike lanes on James Garner Ave from Acres to Duffy.  Motion Moved - Chris Southern, Second – George Ahmad  Discussion – the installation of the bicycle lanes was discussed and the decision to not recommend lanes in this specific case was based on the perception that the existing Legacy Trail system could and would be used by most cyclist riding in that locale. And there will also be additional bicycle lanes installed in that area in the near future between Webster and University through a recently awarded grant from the ACOG Air Quality Small Grant Program.  Vote was unanimous to recommend no bicycle lanes be installed. o City of Norman Cycling Map – report on latest version and status of map Page 1   Assignment from Community Planning and Transportation Committee  Bicycle Lane Study/Recommendations -- Progress and process next steps Members were encouraged to become familiar with the summary of Bicycle Accidents Overview data. And also the OKC Bicycle Infrastructure Standards (Sheets 3-9 most relevant to BAC discussions) https://www.okc.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/20253/637401593783170000 relating in future meetings any personal experiences with current regional or other bicycle infrastructure was also requested by the Chair.  www.bikenorman.org -- Publish New Map! Perhaps add Pioneer Library’s Bicycling for Better Health pamphlet? Other Ideas and suggestions were requested.  Statement or Topics of Interest by Visitor Jack Dawson - New Business/Open discussion  Discussion and Schedule of March BAC Meeting  Adjournment o Motion to adjourn passes with unanimous consent.
