Norman Board of Parks Commissioners May 4, 2017 The Norman Board of Parks Commissioners of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met in the Multi-Purpose Conference Room on the 4th day of May, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. and notice and agenda of the meeting were posted at 201 West Gray Street, 24 hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. ITEM 1, being: ROLL CALL Present: Chairman Hoover and Commissioners Dolan, London, Moxley, Sallee, Salmond, and Wright Absent: Commissioners Favors and Rogers City Officials Present: Jud Foster, Director of Parks and Recreation Matt Hendren, Parks Superintendent Karla Chapman, Administrative Technician IV ITEM 2, being: APPROVAL OF THE APRIL 6, 2017 REGULAR MEETING MINUTES Commissioner Salmond made the motion and Commissioner Wright seconded to approve the minutes. The vote was taken with the following results: YEAH: Chairman Hoover and Commissioners Dolan, London, Moxley, Sallee, Salmond, and Wright NAY: None ITEM 3, being: APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Commissioner London made the motion and Commissioner Wright seconded to approve the agenda. The vote was taken with the following results: YEAH: Chairman Hoover and Commissioners Dolan, London, Moxley, Sallee, Salmond, and Wright NAY: None Park Board Page 2 of 2 May 4, 2017 ITEM 4, being: PRESENTATION OF PARK BOARD ACTIVITIES/INFORMATION Jud Foster presented a power point giving an overview of the different divisions in the Parks and Recreation department, their roles and responsibilities and funding. The power point also gave insight as to the role of the Board of Park Commissioners. The primary responsibilities of the Board are to consider parkland dedication ordinance requirements for residentially zoned plats; propose rules and regulations for the maintenance and operation of parks and recreational facilities; consider policy matters relative to the use of those facilities; and to make recommendations to improve the park and recreational facilities. The presentation covered the Park Land Dedication Ordinance and the Park Development Ordinance, explained their differences and how they were administered. Jeff Salmond left the meeting at 6:22 p.m. ITEM 5, being: MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS The Park Board will have a Park Tour following the meeting. The Board requested to see examples of private parks, Sonoma Park, Westwood Pool, Legacy Trail and Redlands Neighborhood Park. The Park and Recreation Staff will take the Board to the following City Parks: Sonoma, Parkhill, Red Canyon Ranch, Highland Village, Trail Woods, Little River Trails, Redlands, Ruby Grant, Brookhaven, and Westwood. ITEM 6, being ADJOURNMENT Commissioner London made the motion and Commissioner Wright seconded to adjourn.
