Community Development Block Grant Policy Committee Meeting

CITY OF NORMAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM CDBG NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING The CDBG Neighborhood Meeting of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met for the Neighborhood Meeting on November 6, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. Notice and Agenda of the meeting were posted at the Norman Municipal Building and at www.Normanok.gov twenty-four hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. Lisa Krieg, CDBG Grant Manager called the meeting to order at 6:08pm. Item No. 1, being: Introductions. City Staff in attendance: Lisa Krieg Janita Hatley Lt. Cary Bryant Tara Reynolds Item No. 2, being: Update on Neighborhoods Projects. • CDGB planted 220 trees in a tree-planting project earlier this year. They have all survived, and the project will be repeated this coming year. • There are funds to do 2 blocks of a driveway project which is in the works. • Still plans to place fitness stations and equipment in Cate Park. The Committee would like to have input on the equipment chosen. • The Miller sidewalk project will be moved to a different area, as the whole street will be replaced in 2021. • There might be an alley improvement project opportunity. • There can be some sidewalk shaving touch ups if needed. Item No. 3 being: Election of CDBG Policy Committee Representatives. • All attendees will receive an email to either join or opt out of being a neighborhood representative. Item No. 4 being: Discussion of Neighborhood issues with representatives from the Norman Police Department, and the Code Enforcement Staff. • Lt. Cary discussed the City’s efforts to house the homeless population and the formation of a City Council Ad Hoc Committee to Address Homelessness, as well as mental health treatment being a core need for the homeless. • There was discussion with Code compliance staff regarding several abandoned properties.
