CITY OF NORMAN, OK ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL ADVISORY BOARD MEETING Development Center, Conference Room, 225 N. Webster Avenue, Norman, OK 73069 Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 5:30 PM MINUTES It is the policy of the City of Norman that no person or groups of persons shall on the grounds of race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, place of birth, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, familial status, marital status, including marriage to a person of the same sex, disability, relation, or genetic information, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise subjected to discrimination in employment activities or in all programs, services, or activities administered by the City, its recipients, sub-recipients, and contractors. Rain Barrel Distribution: 95 rain barrels were purchased in this event Cleanups: fun and successful MINUTES 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE MARCH 13, 2024 MEETING Motion to approve made by Board member Nairn, Seconded by Board member Smith. Voting Yea: Board member Giuffrida, Board member Phillips, Board member Rocher, Board member Bondy, Board Member Grzybowski DISCUSSION ITEMS 3. DISCUSSION OF EARTH DAY SIGN UPS ECAB has a booth from noon-5. Group discussed who can work the booth and help out. MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTS AND EDUCATIONAL MESSAGING REQUESTS Further discussion regarding the EarthDay Festival and the wind that may become an issue in regards to printouts. Moving towards QR codes to reduce the use of paper. Loudenback suggested that the group visits the AIM Norman website and review the site to see what is going on with it. Make any comments and suggestions and answer any questions as they are interested in the Public's input. Croft suggested that they put the Mayor's Climate Agreement concerns in there. Ewaste was further discussed. Globe at night handouts were passed around. Week of May 6th is drinking water week. There will be a taste test that Wednesday at the Development Center from 10AM-1PM. Also having tours at the water plant on that Thursday and Saturday. It is also International Compost Awareness week and on May 6th there will be a lunch and learn about the cities compost facility with OKRA. The question was asked what the benefit of joining Eight Twenty vs doing it on your own would be. Loudenback informed that that the benefit is the cost reduction which is considerably less. There is an option for people to donate to the low to moderate income as well. Already at 16 percent sales of the 2 megawatt goal. Enrollment is April 3rd - August 31st. OG&E and OEC have both been informed of the solar initiative. It was asked about the tree requirements for parking lots because the new Soccer fields do not have any trees. Loudenback stated that they are reevaluating it.
