City of Norman, OK HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Monday, January 27, 2020 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. WORK SESSION 201 W. Gray – Building A, Conference Room D Discussion of presentation by consultant of preliminary formatting and content for Historic District Guidelines. The Commission viewed a presentation of the progress of the Historic District Guideline update by the consultant. The Commission discussed:  Changing the cover photo  Clearly defining the sightline from the street  The need for a fencing guidelines for front and rear yards  The need for guidance on roofing materials  Clarification on what can be done through admin bypass and what needs to go before the Commission  The consultant was asked to research what other cities do when they don’t require permits for roof replacements  There needs to be a clear guide to windows and doors, with appropriate graphics, and to align current building code with the guidelines  There was discussion about the new formatting of the document – it is longer, with some sidebars removed. The sidebars will be replaced with some helpful graphics  All personal information, like addresses, will be removed  Request for the digital copy of the guidelines to link to relevant sections and information  Request to include items that should be avoided as well
