INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY SUBCOMMITTEE MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING Human Rights Commission City of Norman November 4, 2019 The Inclusive Community Subcommittee of the Human Rights Commission of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met in the Municipal Complex located at 201 West Gray Street on November 4, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., and notice and agenda of the meeting were duly posted 48 hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. Item 1, being: ROLL CALL PRESENT: Co-Chair Marjaneh Seirafi-Pour, A. Miles Francisco, Betty J. Robbins, Charlotte Gordon, Farzad Khalili, Helen Grant, Jacob Tsotigh, James Chappel, Jeff Yamada, Jennifer Ahrens- Sims, John Drayton, Julianna Kershen, Marcie King, Michael Givel, Randy Henning, Samuel Woodfork, Stephanie Williams, Steven Davis, Summayah Anwar STAFF PRESENT: Assistant City Attorney Kristina Bell, Officer Ali Jaffrey, Officer Jeff Casillas, Legal Admin Tech Sarah Encinias Item 2, being: WORKING GROUPS BREAKOUT DISCUSSIONS: FURTHER ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION OF RELEVANT PUBLIC SURVEY DATA AND PREPARATION OF RECOMMENDED ACTION ITEMS Committee members divided into the following working groups and continued analyzing and discussing relevant public survey data relating to said topics: Working Group 1: Grappling with our History: Sundown Town/Tribal Nations/ Indigenous People/Land Acknowledgment/Reconciliation/Museum; Working Group 2: Education/Youth/Single Caregivers/Families; Working Group 3: Disabilities/Senior Citizens/Transportation; Working Group 4: Homelessness/Mental Health; Working Group 5: Economy/Business/Housing Development/Facilities; Working Group 6: People of Color Caucus; Working Group 7: Immigration/Bilingual/Sanctuary City; and Working Group 8: Further Research/Assessments/Training/Formerly Incarcerated. Inclusive Community Subcommittee of the HRC October 21, 2019 Page 2 Working groups also continued discussing each focus group topic and continued preparing recommendations for potential action items for each topic. Item 3, being: ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
