MINUTES
The Human Rights Commission of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma,
met in Regular Session in Conference Room B at the Development Center, on the 22nd day of
July, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., and notice of the agenda of the meeting were posted at the Norman
Municipal Building at 201 West Gray, the Development Center at 225 N. Webster and on the
City website at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of the meeting.

ROLL CALL
A quorum was present. Chair Ali called the meeting to order.
MINUTES
1. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE MAY 20, 2024, REGULAR MEETING
Motion was made by Commissioner Farley to approve the Minutes for the May 20, 2024,
regular meeting and the motion was duly seconded by Commission Ridgeway. A vote
was taken with the following results: all approved and none opposed. The Minutes were
approved by unanimous vote.
ACTION ITEMS
2. DISCUSSION REGARDING HRC VACANCIES
Chair Ali said she has heard from many people who have expressed interest in joining
the Commission. Commissioners Farley and Nanny also said they knew of people who
said they were going to apply for membership with the HRC as well. Chair Ali will contact

the City Clerk to see how many applications have been received. She will also make a
flier to advertise HRC openings to potential applicants. Chair Ali said the application
form is not on the City’s HRC webpage and the HRC vacancies are not listed on the
“Boards and Commissions” webpage. Chair Ali will email the City Clerk and City
Manager regarding these issues.
3. DISCUSSION REGARDING MLK BREAKFAST
Chair Ali reached out to 4 potential sites to hold the interfaith breakfast and she
discussed these options with commissioners. Potential sponsors could be student
groups. She will also reach out to the police department to see if anyone can provide
security at the event.
The date of the event was discussed with a unanimous approval of Saturday, January
11, 2025, with a back-up date of Saturday, February 8, 2025.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ms. Holloman said the Human Rights Award is coming up in October and members asked that
this topic be included in the next meeting agenda.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
