MINUTES
The City of Norman and the Norman Human Rights Commission hosted the Interfaith Breakfast
on February 17, 2024, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Interfaith Breakfast was held at McFarlin
Memorial United Methodist Church located at 419 South University Boulevard. Notice of the
Interfaith Breakfast was timely posted at City Hall, and the event was open to the public.
Although the Interfaith Breakfast was not a regularly scheduled meeting of the Norman Human
Rights Commission, a quorum of the Commission was present; therefore a summary of the
Interfaith Breakfast is recorded as required by the Open Meeting Act.
Keynote speaker, Steve Hardeman, presented a speech entitled “Community of Prayer”. The
winners of the 2023 Human Rights Award were announced and inspirational commentary and
prayers were shared by leaders representing a number of diverse faiths.

It is the policy of the City of Norman that no person or groups of persons shall on the grounds of

services, or activities administered by the City, its recipients, sub-recipients, and contractors. In
the event of any comments, complaints, modifications, accommodations, alternative formats,
and auxiliary aids and services regarding accessibility or inclusion, please contact the ADA

advance notice is preferred.

ACTION ITEMS
The City of Norman and the Norman Human Rights Commission will host an Interfaith Breakfast
in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.
This is not a regularly scheduled meeting of the City of Norman City Council or the Norman
Human Rights Commission however it is anticipated that a quorum of the City Council and/or
Commission will be present. Therefore, notice of this event is being posted in accordance with
the Open Meeting Act.
