CITY OF NORMAN, OK HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION MEETING SPECIAL MEETING Municipal Building, Council Chambers 201 West Gray St., Norman, OK 73069 Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 6:00 PM MINUTES The Human Rights Commission of the City of Norman, Oklahoma, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met in the Municipal Complex located at 201 West Gray Street on January 24, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., and notice and agenda of the meeting were duly posted 48 hours prior to the Special Meeting. PRESENT Commission Chair Jackie Farley Commission Vice-Chair Aisha Ali Commissioner Chris Nanny Commissioner Michael Ridgeway ABSENT Commissioner Christopher Tall Bear Commissioner Stephen Machovic STAFF PRESENT Grace Holloman, ADA Technician, Culture & Social Responsibility Anthony Purinton, Assistant City Attorney Sarah Encinias, Legal Admin Tech ROLL CALL A quorum was present. ACTION ITEMS 1. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE 2024 INTERFAITH BREAKFAST Ms. Holloman briefly introduced herself to the Commissioners. She explained she has been in contact with McFarlin church and verified the following dates are available for the breakfast: Saturday, February 17; Monday, February 19; and Saturday, February 24. Chair Farley asked if people are still interested in attending the breakfast and Vice- Chair Ali said she has heard from several people that they are still looking forward to attending. HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING - Wednesday, January 24, 2024 Page |1 After further group discussion, Vice-Chair Ali motioned to set the Interfaith Breakfast for Saturday, February 17, contingent on if at least 6 speakers plus the keynote speaker can attend. She will contact all speakers to confirm by Friday if they can attend this new date. The motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Nanny and a vote was taken wit the following results: all approved and none opposed. The new date for the breakfast was approved by unanimous vote. Mr. Purinton said that if the minimum amount of speakers cannot attend, another special meeting will be held on February 1st for further discussion among the HRC. All Commissioners present said they were available for this date if it is needed.
