MINUTES
The Human Rights Commission of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma,
met for a Special Meeting in the Executive Conference Room at the Municipal Building, on
Monday, June 30, 2025 at 5:30 PM and notice of the agenda of the meeting was posted at the
Norman Municipal Building at 201 West Gray, and on the City website at least 48 hours prior to
the beginning of the meeting.

ROLL CALL
A quorum was present. Chair Ali called the meeting to order at 5:37 p.m.
MINUTES
1. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE APRIL 28, 2025, REGULAR MEETING
Motion was made by Commissioner Farley to approve the Minutes for the April 28, 2025,
regular meeting and motion was duly seconded by Chair Ali. A vote was taken with the
following results: all approved and none opposed. The Minutes were approved by
unanimous vote.
ACTION ITEMS
2. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON PROCLAMATIONS
As an update from the last HRC meeting, Ms. Holloman said the proclamation for
Juneteenth was approved by the Mayor for June but the proclamation for LGBTQ Pride
Month was not. Chair Ali would like to ask Chris Nanny to accept the July proclamation
for Disability Pride Month and she would like a proclamation for October recognizing
Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Ms. Holloman said additional proclamations by the HRC can be considered once she
has discussed the topic with Mayor-Elect Holman.
3. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE 2026 INTERFAITH
BREAKFAST
Chair Ali said she would like to engage more youths. Additionally, she would like to look
into the idea of having a video done. A possible keynote speaker was discussed and
Ms. Holloman asked Commissioners to keep in mind that some religions cannot attend
a Saturday service. Ms. Holloman again stated that she would discuss the breakfast
with Mayor-Elect Holman for input.
ANNOUCEMENTS
Commissioner Farley recently cut the ribbon at the unveiling of improvements to Morgan Park.
Ms. Holloman will work on getting the 2025 Human Rights Award issued to the winner. Chair
Ali has been attending meetings hosted by the Xenia Institute regarding homelessness and
garnered valuable information from them.
Chair Ali reminded Commissioners to reapply for the HRC. Also, as Councilmembers look to fill
positions on the HRC, they will ideally be wanting a representative from each ward.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
