SOCIAL AND VOLUNTARY SERVICES COMMISSION Minutes of August 12, 2019 The Social and Voluntary Services Commission of the City of Norman, Cleveland County, State of Oklahoma, met for the Regular Meeting on this date at 5:30 p.m. Notice and Agenda of the meeting were posted at 201 W Gray Building A, the Norman Municipal Building, and at www.Normanok.gov twenty-four hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. Chair Kay Antinoro called the meeting to order at 5:28 p.m. ITEM NO. 1 BEING: Roll Call MEMBERS PRESENT: Kay Antinoro Kristal Hamm Nancee Morris Loida Salmond Heidi Smith Angela Steinle Ann Way MEMBERS ABSENT: Victoria Harrison Pam Normile STAFF PRESENT: Lisa Krieg, CDBG/Grants Manager Tara Reynolds, Admin Tech III ITEM NO. 2, BEING: Approval of the minutes from the July 29, 2019 meeting. Motion by Nancee Morris for approval of the minutes as submitted; Second by Kristal Hamm. All approve. ITEM NO. 3, BEING: Review of Additional Information from Applicants. • Food & Shelter was asked to provide more information regarding their budget, and it was decided they did not provide adequate information. • It was decided to not fund three agencies – Envision Success, Mission Norman, and ABLE for several reasons such as inadequate applications and budgetary concerns. Instead the Commission will be reaching out to help assist them with the process in the future. SVSC August 12, 2019 ITEM NO. 4, BEING: Discussion & Determination of Funding Levels. It was decided to fund the agencies as follows for the 2019-2020 fiscal year: Agency Funding Aging Services 1,500 Aging Services 4,000 Among Friends 5,500 Assistance League 5,000 Bethesda 10,000 Big Brothers Big Sisters 7,344 Bridges 9,000 CASP 8,500 Catholic Charities 10,000 Center for Children & Families Inc, CCFI 10,000 Citizens Advisory Board 6,000 COCAA 2,500 Community Services Building, Inc. CSBI 10,000 Food & Shelter 5,000 Full Circle 6,000 Heartline 4,000 Infant Crises Services 2,500 Mary Abbott 6,000 Meals on Wheels 10,000 Norman Affordable Housing Corporation 7,500 Project Outreach 5,000 Salvation Army 10,000 South Central CASA 4,500 Thunderbird Clubhouse 5,000 Transition 4,000 Virtue Center 9,156 Women's Resource Center 7,000 Motion by Kristal Hamm to accept item 4; Second by Loida Salmond. All approve. ITEM NO. 5, BEING: Miscellaneous Announcements There was discussion about sending a memo to City Council to explain the unmet needs of the City and ask for more funding, and to potentially invite City Councilmembers to attend the site visits next year.
